ASTP 3910 - Asia and Global Cinema

Check out this brand new class for Spring 2020! This is a unique opportunity for students to expereince global films and appreicate human experiences through this course. The course counts as an elective for Asian Studies and for International Studies (Culture/Identity or as a Culture Elective). In collaboration with the Sundance Institute and Utah Film Center, and guided by the instructors, a sociologist and film producer, studetns in this course will engage in close viewing and critical reflection upon films that caputre lived experiences of deeper appreciation of key aspects of filming and the human impacts of major social issues confronting Asian societies.

Note, during the 4th week of classes (from January 27 - February 2), students will have the opportunity to attend the film screenings and participate in filmmaker discussions during the Sundance Film Festival.
