"The U.S. and China: Parallel Challenges in Health Care" Conference
Event to be held December 4-5, 2008 in the Fort Douglas Conference Center on the University of Utah campus. The conference will address the current state of the health care systems in the United States and China in comparative perspective.
Panel topics inclue the challenges to health care posed by inequiality, migration, and aging populations; the problem of insurance; the impact of traditional Chinese medicine and alternative medicine options on health care delivery; and potential directions for policymaking on public health.
The proceedings are free and open to all interested students and faculty.

Western Conference of the Association for Asian Studies and the Southwest Conference of the Association for Asian Studies
The Asian Studies Program at the University of Utah will be the local sponsor for the 2007 joint meetings of the Western Conference of the Association for Asian Studies (WCAAS) and the Southwest Conference of the Association for Asian Studies (SWCAS). The conference will be held at the Fort Douglas Conference Center of the University of Utah from September 20-22, 2007. We welcome all proposals for panels, individual papers, and roundtables from any discipline focused on any Asia-related topic. We have reserved rooms at the University Guest house. Proposals are due June 1, 2007. Proposal forms are available online. Participants should pre-register by August 1, 2007.
