Conducting research is an excellent way to add a signature experience to your undergraduate career, and there are numerous opportunities available at the University of Utah.  Beyond having a completed research project, there are other benefits to participating in research: 

  • explore research techniques
  • work closely with a faculty mentor
  • enhance your understanding of a topic
  • clarify your academic, career and personal interests
  • gain academic credentials that help expand your resume
  • learn skills in communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving

Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP)

The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programs offers undergraduate students the opportunity to either assist a faculty member in a research project or to identify their own research project and be supervised by a faculty member throughout the process.

Fulbright Student Programs

Through the Fulbright Program, there are opportunities to conduct research abroad, to serve as a teaching assistant, to continue studying a second language, to travel and produce digital storytelling pieces, and more. Throughout the year, the University of Utah's Fulbright Representative, Prof. Howard Lehman, offers info sessions to advise students on the process. Students will be notified about these info sessions through the IAS weekly email.
